EVENT VENUE
The Tent by Clubul Diplomatic
Soseaua Bucuresti – Ploiesti 2B, sector 1, Bucuresti
Reflecting on 2023, it is clear that ABSL members have demonstrated remarkable resilience and adaptability in the face of new challenges: from geopolitical turmoil, global economic headwinds, to the latest legislative fiscal changes, new Generative AI tools, shifts in organizational culture and people practices. Despite the ever-evolving landscape, we have witnessed a continued growth in our industry, whether through securing new clients, expanding services for existing ones, or navigating the complexities of our field to add value. The hybrid work environment, alongside the geopolitical and economic shifts, determined innovation and flexibility, traits that have become a hallmark of our community. Amidst all these, ABSL offered a collaborative platform of shared learning and exchange of best practices, thereby fortifying our industry’s ability to thrive and capitalize on emerging opportunities.
In order to honour our members that have played a pivotal role in maintaining the success of our industry and positioning Romania as one of the most attractive markets, we are proud to announce the 9th edition of the ABSL AWARDS GALA.
We invite our member companies to showcase their most innovative, impactful, and valuable projects and initiatives by participating in our competition. Thus, you not only gain recognition but also contribute to shaping the future of our industry. Let’s continue to be together the voice of progress and excellence.
The outstanding projects will be applauded and awarded during the ABSL Gala, that will take place on June 13, at The Tent by Clubul Diplomatic, Bucharest.
ABSL Awards Gala inspires the business services community to continuously strive for excellence and by this, to strengthen the sector’s position within the Romanian economy.

In today’s Business Services sector, the ability of our companies to continuously improve operational capabilities and financial performance lays at the heart of our business. This category seeks to recognize the projects that brought the highest productivity, significant improvement in results and contributed to achieving business excellence through enhanced process quality, reduction of operational costs and therefore overall contribution to the enterprise. We look at projects driven either through continuous improvement, innovation, or business process re-engineering.
EVALUATION CRITERIA
Over the last few years, the Business Services sector has moved from transactional and fairly simple operations to more advanced, complex and even automated activities and processes. Companies needed to continue finding innovative solutions to cope with the new environment (challenged at geopolitical, economical, and technological levels) and maintain the business to its efficiency and performance, striving to reach the higher echelons of innovation.
This category focuses on rewarding the development of innovative, out-of-the- box solutions or the successful delivery of complex or advanced services. Either of them should be considered means to further enhancement of business services capabilities. Your success story needs to demonstrate how your organization gained competitive advantage or improved its performance due to implementation of the innovative solution.
EVALUATION CRITERIA
Building trust and sustaining Customer Intimacy lead not only to improved business performance, but also to an uninterrupted high-quality delivery of services in these times that met new challenges (the geopolitical turmoil, as well as the looming economic recession). The award in this category recognizes the most compelling success story of building customer intimacy, continuing to deliver high- quality services, and improving customer satisfaction in 2023.
The aim is to identify and reward the company-wide project that has delivered concrete solutions and achieved tangible results through delivery of superior customer experience.
EVALUATION CRITERIA
This ESG Award is designed to inspire, to give a higher visibility to excellence in Environment, Social and Governance, and raise awareness on the positive impact that businesses can have on society. This category aims to recognize initiatives that allowed involvement at grassroot level, improved the lives of the employees, determined a positive change in the pursuit of a more equitable and sustainable world or changed for the better the community in which the company activates. We are looking for innovative projects that found solutions and responded to the community’s real needs, that used resources efficiently and transparently and brought sustainable changes.
EVALUATION CRITERIA
The business sector has a major role to play in Education and is directly affected by the quality of the labour force. Therefore, companies can choose to be directly involved in the development of the necessary skills and competencies needed in their future employees.
We are looking for projects that continued to invest in education and supported the educational system, companies that took an active role in educating the workforce by either investing in their own training programs or in collaborating with education institutions or other educational partners for building the capabilities needed within the labour market.
EVALUATION CRITERIA
The way we work and interact was among the firsts aspects that changed in our working life in the last years. But a lot of things remained the same: the company’s involvement in employees’ holistic well-being, in offering them the best working ecosystem possible, in keeping the company’s culture and team spirit, and preserving diversity and inclusion.
All these became crucial in order to continue attracting new employees, delivering world-class services, keeping the clients happy and inviting new projects. Performance lies in employee’s engagement and correlates with work satisfaction, which contributes to the company’s success.
This award seeks to appreciate and promote companies that creates working environments that are inspiring and vibrant, referring not solely to the décor or location, but also to the whole working atmosphere that became even more important with hybrid work and WFA in place.
EVALUATION CRITERIA
In every company, there are people whose positive energy is contagious, who mobilize resources and make things happen, who are mentors, always volunteering and open to embark in new challenges. They maintained the spirits up, teaching us new things, creating real communities around them, while also helping the others to overcome new challenges.
This award aims to recognize people who are willing to go the extra mile in supporting their colleagues and teams achieving results and perform better while being careful in preserving a suitable work-life balance. They are the ones who hold strong personal values, have a natural preference to help and mentor others, a can-do attitude, and the ability to create the right environment for the people to be the best versions of themselves.

A New #BetterTogether Office for BAT DBS Romania
The winner:
BAT (British American Tobacco) DBS Romania Hub
Short description of the project:
BAT DBS Romania moved to a brand new, ESG friendly office in January 2024. More than a simple office move, the entire project centered around two core strategies: employee wellbeing first (‘For the People By the People’ approach); sustainability / ESG agenda a priority These two primary considerations were deployed in every aspect of the move, from location selection, working spaces and working environment. Employee insights were gathered right through the process (and continue to be) and directly influenced all decisions: this was truly a project designed by its people for its people. Consequently our DBS community thrives in an inspirational, welfare-centric workspace designed to maximise work-life balance, build a community and provide the best opportunities for delivery of optimum results from our people by addressing their needs.
