We know how overwhelming 2020 was for all of us. But the last year wasn’t only about Covid – 19, lockdown, travel bans and social distance, it was also about companies that acted around the clock to send their employees home, in a safe environment, it was about people that continued to offer the same high standard quality services, about accelerated digitalization, about an incredible mobilization from companies and people’s side in order to help the medical system. It was also about all the small actions that contributed to the bigger picture.
In 2021 we mark the 6th edition of the ABSL AWARDS GALA and we want to celebrate the people, most of the time the unknown ones, and companies that made the industry keep going, maintaining Romania in the mature outsourcing markets top. We celebrate the ones that through innovation, excellence and hard work continue to attract valuable projects in our country, but mostly we celebrate the talented people from our industry. And they deserve, more than ever the awards, after an year like this.
We encourage companies to become a voice for the industry by enrolling their most innovative, impactful and valuable projects and initiatives during the ABSL Gala, that will take place on May 20 in online format.
ABSL Awards Gala inspires the business services community to continuously strive for excellence and by this, to strengthen the sector’s position within the Romanian economy.

NOMINATION CRITERIA
Over the last few years, the Business Services sector has moved from transactional and fairly simple operations to more advanced, complex and even automated activities and processes. It is a saying – Necessity is the mother of invention – and it couldn’t be more applicable as it was last year. Companies needed to find innovative solutions to cope with the new normal and maintain the business to its efficiency and performance.
This category focuses on rewarding the development of innovative solutions or a successful delivery of complex or advanced services. Either of them should be considered means to further enhancement of business services capabilities. Your success story needs to demonstrate how your organization gained competitive advantage or improved its performance due to implementation of the innovative solution.
NOMINATION CRITERIA
Last year context created the necessity to move the relation and interaction with our customers and partners to 100% virtual remote management and maintaining at least the same level of communication and engagement. More, we found ourselves in a close partnership working together to achieve the same goal.
Building trust and sustaining Customer Intimacy lead not only to improved business performance, but also to an interrupted high-quality delivery of services (while maintaining your employees safe) in a pandemic year. The award in this category recognises the most compelling success story of building customer intimacy and improving customer satisfaction in business services delivery in 2020.
The aim is to identify and reward the company-wide project that has delivered concrete solutions and achieved tangible results through delivery of superior customer experience.

NOMINATION CRITERIA
Business sector has a major role to play in Education and is directly affected by the quality of the labour force. Therefore, companies can choose to be directly involved in the development of the necessary skills and competencies needed in their future employees. Last year was a difficult one for education also. It was faced with challenges that it was not prepared for and the whole system needed to adapt.
We are looking for projects that continued to invest in education despite the pandemic reality and supported the education system, companies that took an active role in educating the workforce by either investing in own training programs or in collaborating with education institutions or other educational partners for building the capabilities needed in the labour market.
NOMINATION CRITERIA
In every company, there are people whose positive energy is contagious, who mobilize resources and make things happen, who are mentors, always volunteering and open to embark in new challenges. Last year they had a more difficult role, maintaining the spirit, teaching us new things, creating real communities around them and helping the others to overcome the challenges of this pandemic.
This award aims to recognise people who are willing to go the extra mile in supporting their colleagues and teams achieving results and perform better. They are the ones who hold strong personal values, have a natural preference to help and mentor others, a can-do attitude, and the ability to create the right environment for the people to be the best versions of themselves.
NOMINATION LETTER
In today’s Business Services sector, the ability of our companies to continuously improve operational capabilities and financial performance lays at the heart of our business and especially these are important in a pandemic year.
This category seeks to recognise the projects that not only brought the highest productivity, significant improvement in results and contributed to achieving business excellence through enhanced process quality, reduction of operational costs and therefore overall contribution to the enterprise, but also adapted to the changing environment that the pandemic brought.
We look at projects driven either through continuous improvement, innovation or business process re-engineering.

Chance to Learn – A Read. Share. Repeat Movement.
The winner:
EUCOM BUSINESS LANGUAGE
Short description of the project:
One of our main values as a company is that of continuous improvement. We believe that education can change the world and developing a culture that supports learning is part of our mission and purpose as it helps us capitalize on our employees’ potential and grow.
“Chance to Learn” was born and implemented in order to promote the ideas above. The project was first launched in March 2020 and it consists of monthly meetings open to the entire team where we discuss the ideas of famous books either voted on or chosen by the host of the meeting, that have greatly impacted our lives.
There have been 12 meetings so far, most of them dealing with Personal Development books and many of the ideas encountered and discussed during these meeting turned into action points and were later implemented. We have had special guests, the authors of some of the books we had read, who have shared their knowledge with us and opened our eyes and minds as #LearningMustGoOn.
In a time when employees feel more isolated than ever from their coworkers, this has been one way of boosting employee morale and creativity.

RADC – Onboarding Program
The winner:
DELOITTE REGIONAL AUDIT DELIVERY CENTER
Short description of the project:
The Onboarding program for our junior hires was a reshape challenge in 2020, being focused on delivering high quality learning in a fully virtual environment.
With 4 weeks of training dedicated to groups of 20 – 70 people per intake from Sep to Dec, the Onboarding was a large program powered by great internal collaboration.
We created a program that relied on Deloitte’s values and growth mindset as the main pillars to support developing the intended set of technical and soft skills (e.g. communication, teaming and presenting in a virtual environment).
The business/soft skills courses were also designed as virtual teambuilding events, alongside meetings with team leaders, their future teams and talent representatives, as we wanted to connect people, allow space for fun and relaxation while maintaining their engagement throughout the program.
The program also included shadowing time, which helped the new joiners understand the business and start gaining “hands on” experience.
Project name:
Code Hero
The winner:
SOCIETE GENERALE GLOBAL SOLUTION CENTRE
Short description of the project:
The Code Hero project aimed to contribute to counteracting a local reality harshened by the pandemic: only 31% of the Romanian population has basic digital skills, while 90% of the EU jobs require digital know-how. Such gaps prevent people, especially from rural or small urban areas, get a good job in our digitalized society. To fight this, Code Hero gave over 2.000 Romanian children, 9-13 y.o., from rural & urban areas, with hearing problems & healthy, the occasion to develop their digital skills in order to further have better hiring chances and a successful adult life. For this, the project included free online lessons during which children learnt from specially trained volunteers both digital/programming skills (Scratch based programming lessons) and soft skills (financial education, public speaking, how to make a good presentation, how to offer feedback, cyberbullying etc). The curriculum used for the programming part was developed by Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Project name:
Virtual Clinic
The winner:
MICROSOFT ROMANIA
Short description of the project:
In March 2020 amid the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Microsoft Romania and Regia Maria Healthcare Network developed and launched, in a record time of 10 days, the first Virtual Clinic platform for online consultations. The new service benefited patients with medical consultations from their home, avoiding going to clinics to comply with state of emergency rules and minimize risks of infection. The Telemedicine solution is based on a deep integration between the MEDIS platform, a clinical data system developed by local partner Softeh Plus, and Microsoft Teams solution to offer a seamless virtual experience for both patients and doctors. Patients can book a medical appointment online, which is confirmed by an email containing a Teams Meeting calendar invitation. At the appointed time, both doctors and patients join the Teams meeting for a real-time video appointment in a highly secure environment, with a single click.
Project name:
Edge-To-Office
The winner:
HEWLETT PACKARD ENTERPRISE
Short description of the project:
The global pandemic has shown us what we already knew — our value isn’t defined by where we work, but how we show up. The energy and mindset we bring to our work, no matter where we sit, is what will help us accelerate what’s next for our customers, partners, and the world.
These insights led us to introduce Edge-to-Office, a new program which boldly reimagines the way we work at HPE. It’s a different take on hybrid work – one designed to emphasise that team members are connected no matter where their workplace is located.
While so much is changing, our DNA remains the same. We’re not defined by a building and desks. We’re defined by our culture, our purpose, and a desire to deliver for our customers.
Project name:
